Bio Pics have been successful for two things: They rake in box-office money and bait in Oscar noms for its celebs. Word has it that a certain number of actresses from Reese Witherspoon to Elizabeth Olsen are gunning for the much coveted role of a young Hilary Clinton.
Prince William, oldest son of Prince Charles and the deceased Princess Diana, and his fiancee Kate Middleton are finally going to marry, and not surprisingly, it’ll be a wedding fit for a, uh, Prince. (Though he’s second in line to one day become King of England.) But they’re going to spend $40M on their public wedding. No word on whether this will be paid by taxpayers, or from the budget of Buckingham Palace, or from the pocket of Queen Elizabeth II, William’s grandmum. Queen Betty is independently one of the wealthiest women in the world, if not the wealthiest. Last I heard, maybe 10 years ago, she was worth close to a billion in assets including family jewels (in the literal sense).
Even if taxpayers aren’t footing the bill, does anyone else think this expenditure is sickening, given the state of the world today? Why don’t they just go to Vegas and have an Elvis impersonator marry them — or the British equivalent — and donate the money to charity? Regardless, no matter how much they spend, they just can’t outdo the fairytale wedding of his mother, Princess Diana, who was in love with Prince Charles from the get-go. Diana also did a great deal of charity work. If she were a live today, I wonder what she’d think of this expense, whether or not she had any say in what happened?
The court has finally reached a verdict on Princess Diana’s death, citing gross negligence on the part of the driver (who was drunk) coupled with the paparrazzi pursuit.
That nixes the theory that Queen Elizabeth’s husband, Prince Philip, was behind the deaths. Former Metropolitan Police commissioner Lord Stevens said: “I do hope everybody will take this verdict as being closure to this particular tragic incident and the people who’ve died will be allowed to rest in peace.”
Princess Diana’s butler, Paul Burrell, gave shocking evidence at the latest inquest on her death, which was reopened in October.
He said Diana’s mother called her a “whore.” “She said that she was ‘messing around with effing Muslim men,’ and she was ‘disgraceful’ and said some nasty things.”
His testimony was full of other revelations including how Diana had also planned a secret wedding with Pakistani heart surgeon Hasnat Khan. She only dated Dodo Fayed to make him jealous after he broke up with her.
Hasnat Khan granted his first interview about the princess but was careful to respect her memory and the love they shared. “That is just the way I am.”
