Rihanna and Chris Brown got into a huge controversy a couple of years ago. The pop stars became tabloid fodder when Brown was arrested for assaulting Rihanna after they had attended a pre-Grammy Awards soiree.
A lot has happened since then, Rihanna became even bigger and Brown managed to salvage his career despite beating up his girlfriend. The two logically separated after the incident, with Rihanna calling it quits. Read the rest of this entry »

When it comes to entertainment and celebrities, at any one time there is almost always a pool of super influential people that seem to be either pulling all the strings or covering all of the magazines. Here's a quick rundown of the top 10 most influential celebrities in entertainment at the moment:

Simon Cowell's celebrity status and entertainment industry influence may have started relatively small in the UK, but he's definitely spread his wings of late. The TV producer, entrepreneur and showbiz judge was the brainchild behind talent show The X Factor, which has now gone stateside in a massive way. As one of the main judges on the show he's got the power to make people's careers. Read the rest of this entry »

Rihanna is joining the bandwagon of R&B/hip-hop stars that are sprinkling their music with house clubbing flavor. The 22-year-old singer enlisted the help of DJ Chew Fu to remix selected tracks from her Rated R album.
The DJ himself has been excitedly promoting the details of the collaboration on his Twitter page. According to MTV, Rihanna has selected these 10 tracks to be remixed:
1. Mad House (Chew Fu Straight Jacket Fix)
2. Russian Roulette (Chew Fu Black Russian Fix)
3. Rockstar 101 (Chew Fu Teacher’s Pet Fix)
4. Wait Your Turn (Chew Fu Can’t Wait No More Fix)

Rihanna was rushed to hospital after a sold-out concert in Zurich, Switzerland April 19th with injured ribs.
Rihanna was rushed to hospital in a limo shortly after the concert and escorted into the Hirslanden private clinic by her driver/bodyguard. The clinic refused to give any details as to her ailment, but it was later learned that the Umbrella singer had slightly injured her ribs during her energetic performance and had it checked out as a precaution.
She left the clinic shortly before 3am. that same morning and later that night she was on stage at her next venue, continuing the European leg of her ‘Last Girl On Earth’ tour right on schedule.

It’s going to be a sizzling summer for RiRi. MTV just announced that her “Last Girl On Earth” tour will begin on July 2 in Seattle and will make 25 stops all over the US. The road show ends on August 25 in Chicago. View the complete list of tour dates here.
What can we expect from Rihanna’s summer tour? For one thing, newbies Ke$ha (who badly needs a promotion from being a “newbie”) and Nicki Minaj are the opening acts. Fans can also look forward to a bigger production. “We’ve never done a tour to this capacity,” Rihanna said in an interview with AOL. “The production is unbelievable and the costumes… we just took it to a whole new level. Visually and sonically it’s going to be a big step up from the last time.”
Tickets will go on sale at LiveNation.com on Friday, April 9, so mark you calendars!

It’s that annual awards show where it’s okay to burp, throw slime, and get icky while presenting blimps to Hollywood’s top celebrities. Here are my favorite moments of this year’s Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards held at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion on Saturday in LA.
Sibling rivalry. Twins Dylan and Cole Sprouse of The Suite Life On Deck were pitted against each other in the Favorite TV Actor category, but Dylan won and took home the famous blimp trophy, beating another set of brothers—Nick and Joe Jonas of the show Jonas.
Katy Perry—best in slime! After changing into a bright yellow floral dress and a blue wig on stage, the singer presented the favorite movie actress award along with Jonah Hill. When she opened the box that held the envelope, Nickelodeon’s traditional bright green slime hosed Katy down. How ironic that she tweeted this just moments before the show: “Hope I don’t get none of that disgusting booger slime on me @Kids Choice Awards 2night… I’ll slap the ho that ruins my weave, nails, face!” Check out a photo documentary of the slimy moment here.

The robot dance is in! Although her red carpet outfit was a disaster, Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” performance did not disappoint. It must be her new stage performance “thing”—a giant dancing robot that’s been tagging along with the singer in her shows.

Her Spice Girls days are far over. Melanie Brown, then known as Scary Spice or Mel B, takes a page off R&B singer Rihanna’s stylebook with this spunky hairstyle.
She was spotted last week at the opening of Cats at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. Look, even her daughter Phoenix is sporting the Rihanna-like ’do.
A few days later, Melanie steps out with a more polished Rihanna hairstyle at the grand opening of “Matt Goss Live from Caesars Palace” in Las Vegas, Nevada.
You know what they say: imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Remember Mary J. Blige’s ‘do?

She arrived at the 2010 Echo Awards red carpet in Berlin on Thursday wearing a plunging Alexandre Vauthier jumpsuit paired with Christian Louboutin pumps.
She later changed into a black and white ensemble to perform “Rude Boy” with the help of futuristic lighting effects and a huge electronic robot.
Does her jumpsuit make you green with envy?

…And no, it wasn’t from a hot male stripper! RiRi celebrated her 22nd birthday last Saturday with her 25-year-old boyfriend Matt Kemp and a few close friends.
They went barhopping in Scottsdale, Arizona, and one particular bar had a little stripper who gave Rihanna a very special lap dance. Check out this video from TMZ:
The night was extra special for the R&B star. If you remember, she didn’t get to celebrate her 21st birthday last year, following the assault charges against her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.
Happy birthday, RiRi!

I can’t help it if she’s my favorite Celebrific star this month. Everyday is a clean slate for her wardrobe, and Rihanna can pull anything off—from military mix-ups to baby animal hoodies.
If you’re wondering how she spent Valentine’s Day, it was all business for the R&B star. She was busy with a photo call in Sydney, Australia, where she was promoting her Rated R album.
She was wearing a belly baring, off-shoulder tribal top and dyed white jeans. She matched her outfit with ethnic accessories. And is that a new dark streak on her bangs?
Rawr.

Kiddie fashion manages to make its way to the grown-ups’ closets, as long as fashionistas, retailers, and designers deem it wearable.
Remember the printed thermal sweaters and pajamas trend a couple of years ago? The likes of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears made “fresh out of bed” a must-have look.
Now it’s an updated version of the baby frog suit. It looks adorable on babies, with the different colors and animals that retailers put on the hoodie. Check out Rihanna’s take on it.
She was spotted at a fan-meeting event on February 11, 2010 in Seoul, South Korea. To keep herself warm in the winter weather, she wore a leopard sweater with animal face hoodie. How… cute.

The R&B singer touched down in Seoul, Korea yesterday. She arrived at Gimpo International Airport wearing a rockstar-meets-military-chic outfit. And I know you’re checking out her irresistible Louis Vuitton bag!
Her visit to Korea is part of an overseas promotional tour to support her fourth album Rated R.
In the meantime, check out her newest video, “Rude Boy,” which was released just this week. Directed by Melina Matsoukas, “Rude Boy” features a lot of graphics, colors, and of course, sexy costumes.
“[The video is] completely different from any other video I’ve shot before,” Rihanna said. “A lot of my videos are really dark and edgy and tough. ‘Rude Boy’ is more playing along the lines from my roots… We used a lot of color, but also the costumes were very Jamaican dance-hall queen type.”

“Rihanna had half her costume missing!” became the running joke since the R&B star’s pre-Super Bowl performance last Thursday. Always the one to challenge fashion rules, the 21-year-old performed a medley of hits at the Pepsi Super Bowl Fan Jam 2010 wearing a one-shoulder, one-leg cat suit with white trimming, accessorized with fishnet stockings and black gloves.
Her outfit was designed by stylists Mariel Haenn and Rob Zangardi, who have helped Rihanna with other ensembles in the past. Other performers at the pre-Super Bowl event in Miami Beach were Justin Bieber, Young Jeezy, and Timbaland, but Rihanna soon stole the spotlight when she performed a number of songs from her recent album, Rated R, including “Rude Boy” and “Russian Roulette.”
Check out her live medley here. Just don’t get too distracted by her hot outfit.

She finally has put the past behind her. In W Magazine’s February issue, Rihanna graces the cover and talks about being back in the grind.
“Not talking was a big thing for me,” Rihanna told W Magazine. She managed to keep mum and stayed away from the craziness last year when the media was all over the Chris Brown story.
In February 8, 2009, her then boyfriend and fellow R&B singer Chris Brown was arrested and sentenced to community service and five years of probation for felony assault, following a domestic violence complaint. Turns out that behind the façade of a happy couple, Rihanna was a victim of violence. It’s been a year since the pre-Grammy incident, and both are leading peaceful and separate lives.
“I’m glad I didn’t talk to people, because I was able to deal with things in my own way, without saying the wrong things or giving people the wrong impression,” Rihanna added. The article wasn’t all about her past rough year. She also talked about her career, the crazy things she does with her “glam team,” and about being “a little older than my real age.”
Inspired by her latest album, Rated R, the photo shoot shows an edgy and naughty Rihanna garbed in designer threads such as Michael Kors, Christian Dior, and Prada.

I didn’t notice it until last weekend’s Grammy Awards. Rihanna and Mary J. Blige are sporting the same do. I ask you (with a Sherlock Holmes voice), who did it first? Or better yet, (in a Tyra Banks voice) who looks better?
This ’do is definitely making a “Russian Roulette.”

Last night’s gathering of entertainers brought out a new trend for red-carpet dressing. Perhaps it’s the 2010 bug where fashionistas are out to challenge the conventional “glam-glam-glam” mantra. Here are my top 10 picks for the Grammy’s best dressed, in no particular order.

As Fergie posed with the rest of the Black Eyed Peas, her cobalt blue Emilio Pucci mini was simply Fergilious.

Miley Cyrus was definitely ready to “Party In The USA” with her teal Hervé Léger by Max Azria dress.

Carrie Underwood sure had a penchant for straps that night. Her Edition by Georges Chakra gown looked great, especially when she received her Best Country Collaboration award.

Before the show, Katy Perry tweeted: “[sic] I’m excited 4 today, all the performances r going to be fab & beauty is gonna be on point! Today I’m channeling Indian Betty Paige princess!” It looks like her Zac Posen dress did the job.

Multi-winner Taylor Swift glittered, literally, with her off-shoulder KaufmanFranco gown.

Sleeves are back on the red carpet style radar. Beyonce, who got the most nods at the Grammys, stood out with her detailed fishtail gown.

Rihanna brushed off rumors that she was blacklisted from the Grammys. Her Elie Saab Haute Couture gown made the feathered collar a must-have fashion detail.
Jennifer Nettles of The Sugarland gets a little help from Posh Spice with this Victoria Beckham cutout dress.

Hot mama Heidi Klum’s nude Emilio Pucci minidress stood out, thanks to the stylish embellishments.

Newbie singer Chantel “Chani” Christie’s bodice minidress spelled hot.

She’s not exactly a Lady Gaga, but R&B star Rihanna has managed to shock Hollywood with her punk-chic hairstyles that paved way for copycats all over the world. Remember when she started the sexy bob, the undercut, and the faux hawk?
Now this. We spotted her last Saturday at the Staples Center watching an NBA game. It doesn’t matter whether she was rooting for the Cleveland Cavaliers or the L.A. Clippers. I was too preoccupied checking out her ‘do.
See it in different angles.
What do you think? If there’s one thing Rihanna’s good at, it’s pulling off a wild ‘do.

Another one bites the dust. Why is it that most celebrities feel the need to pen a memoir of their lives? We already have TMZ tailing them from day to night and the TMI world of social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter.
The latest star to join the bandwagon of celebrity autobiographers is R&B singer Rihanna. She enlisted the help of Simon Henwood, the guy who designed her Rated R CD cover, to be the artistic director of her upcoming tour to release a new book called Rihanna: The Last Girl on Earth. The 144-page book will be released in hardcover on June 29.
While there are no official tidbits about the book’s contents, I’m pretty sure it will talk about Rihanna’s career struggles, a revelation about alcohol and/or drug experimentation, and a no-holds-barred discussion about her abusive relationship with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. Call me psychic!
