Tom Bosley, best known for his role as the father on Happy Days passed away today and now Ron Howard, who played his son Richie Cunningham on the popular ’70s show is speaking about his very much loved TV dad:
“Tom’s insight, talent, strength of character and comic timing made him a vital central figure in the Happy Days experience.”
“A great father and husband, and a wonderful artist, Tom led by example, and made us all laugh while he was doing it. My last conversations with Tom reflected the love of life and peace of mind that he always maintained throughout his full and rewarding life. I miss him already.”
Henry Winkler also spoke about how much Bosley was loved:
“We were a make-believe family for 10 years, and like a real family for over 30,” said Winkler. “He will so, so be missed.”
Adding to the conversation was Bosley’s Happy Days wife Marion Ross:
“He was my husband for 11 years and the father of the company in many ways,” while adding “We made a perfect couple.”
Chachi, I mean Scott Baio, added that he was
“Everybody’s father,” and “He was a good guy and he helped us all within the business and in terms of business. He was a professional and funny guy. I miss him.”
It’s a sad day with Bosley’s passing, Happy Days was before my time, but I still catch it on TV and can’t help but smile, the man was an icon and apparently his loving nature carried over into real life. Our condolences go out to Bosley’s family and friends.
