This is her print ad for Baby Phat’s new fragrance, Dare Me.
You snickered; so did I. Now you know why entertainment blogs all over the world couldn’t stop picking on this ad ever since it came out Monday.
Oh c’mon! Airbrushing is a practice that’s generally accepted in the modern fashion era, but there’s a fine line between editorial airbrushing and fooling yourself—and she just crossed that line by a mile. Besides, people know how she really looks like, thanks to her reality show, Kimora: Life In The Fab Lane.
Fans and haters quickly turned to the 34-year-old’s Twitter account and she defended herself by tweeting: “Of course that’s my body!!! With all the help I could get from the airbrush!!! Lol!”
That’s a whole lot of help, if you ask me. People even think that they simply cut a photo of her head and placed it on a skinnier model’s body. I don’t blame them for thinking that way.
A fan posted this Twitter question: “But why do you have to airbrush? Can’t you just use your real beauty?” Kimora’s reply: “Of course! I do! But every girl could use a ‘lil retouch every once in a while, no? It’s all good!”
Oh boy. I remember Kimora once said, “You should be comfortable at any size or any age. Whatever you have, you should be proud of yourself.” Miss Fabulosity just made a huge contradiction of herself.
