When a new roster of stars did a remake of “We Are The World” for Haiti, it was cool. When another set of millennium celebrities recorded “Everybody Hurts” to benefit Haiti earthquake victims, it seemed copycat-ish but still commendable.

Hollywood recently did another all-star charity song recording, and all I can say is: Another one?!

A number of celebrities enter the studio, dressed as normally as possible in their designer threads. They put on the chunky earphones in a casual but cool manner. They close their eyes and sing from their hearts while a cameraman takes behind-the-scenes clips to put together for the final music video.

This formula is too familiar, and frankly, overused. It’s only been a quarter of 2010 and I’m already getting sick of all-star charity songs.

Yesterday, Michelle Williams and Krishnar Lewis were among the stars who performed at the live in studio recording of “Prayer Song for Hope” for Haiti at MSR Studios in New York’s Times Square.

I’m all for reaching out to help our less fortunate brothers and sisters in underdeveloped and impoverished countries, but sometimes Hollywood tends to overdo things.
