24 Hour Glee Station? Oxford, England Thinks It’s A Great Idea

How popular is the hit Fox TV show Glee in Oxford, England? Apparently popular enough that a radio station has converted their format to 24 hours of Glee song remakes.

The station FM107.9 was a student station that was taken over by a larger station when they ran into some troubles. The new station format features songs that include “Vogue” , “Don’t Stop Believing” and various other hit songs sung by the cast of glee.

Not surprisingly the station was created to target a woman demographic and given the millions of iTunes downloads Glee remakes have attracted, it might not be a bad short term idea.

The station has been live since Monday.

I can’t believe it. I live within broadcast range and will never, ever, ever listen to this station. That said, it’s sister station Jack FM is excellent.

I thought my car radio had re-tuned yesterday when glee station came up, what a load of rubbish, i will definately not be listening, so will have to stick with Jack FM, Radio 1 or Heart, shame because FM 107.9 was my fave………

Its obviously just some stupid publicity stunt and will revert back to FM107.9 within a week im sure. Its quite popular to do this sort of thing in the USA but not over here. Mind you, I guess its got people talking and tuning in just to see if its true

Thanks for commenting. It’s great to hear reactions from the other side of the pond, especially from people in the listening area. I was a bit shocked myself, but I guess it’s a great way to bring the station some attention and to draw more listeners to Jack FM since Jack FM is their sister station.
