Kanye West “Runaway” Music Video Premiers, Becomes World’s Longest [Video]

Kanye West Runaway Video

At 34-minutes long, Kanye West has broken the world record for longest music video, debuting his new epic “Runaway.”

The music video is visually a departure from Wests’ other past video projects, providing listeners/viewers with a hip-hop epic that at points can drag on with chats and repeating beats I personally could have done without.

The version we’ve chosen to show gets rid of the swear words to make it safe for work.

The synopsis is that a phoenix (Selita Ebanks) plays a metaphor for West’s return to the top of his game. While West keeps using the video to talk about the hate he received from Taylor Swift fans after he dissed her at the 2009 MTV VMAs. Read the rest of this entry »

Steven Tyler Butchers National Anthem At Boston Bruins Game

Steven Tyler - National Anthem at NHL Game

Remember when Rosanne Barr butchered the National Anthem? At least she knew she was killing it on purpose, this week Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler sung the anthem and completely mutilated it.

Tyler was singing at a Boston Bruins game and as if the NHL doesn’t have enough problems with finding viewers, they now have to find the one’s who went running from the hills after hearing his awful performance.

Sadly his performance came during the teams Thursday Season opener…not a very good way to start a new hockey season.

‘Glee’ Cast Breaks Billboard Record Set By The Beatles

Glee Cast

The entire cast of Glee has set a new record for the most singles charting on the Billboard Hot 100, a record long held by the Beatles.

The Billboard Hot 100 has existed for 54-years and in that time the Beatles had the most charted “non-solo act” hits with 71 songs appearing on the list, that was a long standing record for a non-solo act that will be passed over the next week when the cast of Glee will see 75 of their songs reach the Hot 100.

Billboard.com announced the amazing feat today, of course we have to take into consideration that the group of singers have never actually created a song, instead remixing popular hits to fit their show.

The next big milestone would be to surpass Elvis Presley who holds the all-time record with 108 songs as a solo artist.

‘Catch Me If You Can’ Musical Debuts In 2011

Catch Me If You Can MusicalCatch Me If You Can was a great movie, largely in part because Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio carried the film, but now we’ve learned that the musical based on the movie will arrive in 2011.

If you’re unfamiliar with the real life story that inspired the film, basically a kid figures out how to con banks out of their money by portraying himself as a Pan American pilot and then forging checks and going on the run for years.

That kid Frank Abagnale Jr. was eventually caught and then paid millions of dollars by major corporations to show them how to avoid banking fraud, while creating “unforgeable checks.” Heck Abagnale Jr. even has a consulting gig for the FBI, the very organization he ran from for so much time.

Here’s what Producers told Playbill.com about the new musical:

Justin Bieber Movie To Arrive Feb. 11, 2011

Justin BieberSure he’s a crappy actor (see the T.V. show ‘True Jackson, VP’), but there is one way to take Justin Bieber to the big screen, with the release of a Justin Bieber concert film in 3D. The “movie,” being released by Paramount Pictures will arrive in theaters Feb. 11, 2011.

The movie is being directed by Step Up director Jon Chu and this is what he had to say about it’s release:

“[It's] a movie for his fans, a movie for people who don’t know him, and we’re gonna tell the underdog story of where he came from,” while adding, “Because it’s a really fascinating story and it has a lot to do with our sort of digital lifestyle now. He was able to do what corporations try to do now when they use YouTube and they don’t even know what to do with it yet. It’s a pretty cool story for our time.”

Kanye West Runaway Performance at MTV VMA's

‘Runaway’ the song Kanye West performed to close out this years MTV Video Music Awards will be released as a 40-minute music video according to NY MAG. The performance will be the longest music video ever recorded.

Runaway will beat out Michael Jackson’s 39 minute and 31 second opus titled “Ghosts.”

Kanye of course is hyping the piece as an “epic piece of art” here’s what he had to say:

“It’s the story of a phoenix fallen to Earth, and I make her my girlfriend, and people discriminate against her and eventually she has to burn herself alive and go back to her world…I’ve been feeling the idea of the phoenix. It’s been in my heart for a while. It’s maybe parallel to my career. I threw a Molotov cocktail on my career last year, in a way, and I had to come back as a better person.”

Katy Perry Performs Surprise Concert At Her Old High School

Katy Perry Driving A CarKaty Perry threw a surprise party for kids at her old high school today. The concert was a surprise for students and went down right after the final bell rang.

According to sources close to Perry, Katy was dropping by Dos Pueblos High School outside Santa Barbara, CA., the school where she spent her freshmen year. The concert was free and open to students and faculty.

TMZ says an employee spilled the beans about the concert, announcing that it was Katy’s idea and the school thought it would be a great experience for their kids.

According to school officials, they are aware of the singers “racier” songs like “I Kissed a Girl” and that’s why the concert is happening after school so students and/or parents who take issue with her songs can leave as they see fit.
