It’s been a while since I’ve actually found an artist in this genre whose music I’ve actually wanted to download onto my playlist. Most of the songs I have on rotation are a hodge podge collection of old school artists that I never grow tired of. However, it was just begging for something fresh!
I was at a friend’s flat when I heard her first streaming through my buddy’s iTunes and I was instantly hooked. Earning two Grammy awards in 2009 for Best New Artist of the Year and Best Female Vocal Performance, 23 year old British singer Adele made my jaw drop with those set of pipes that just rocks your core and moves the earth! That girl has her soul in her music and it reaches out to you. True to this, Beyonce complimented the young artist saying that listening to her feels like listening to God!
Hearing that from the ravishing pop diva herself can make a successful budding artist end up with creating their own alter ego! And from that day, Sasha Carter became Adele Laurie Blue Adkins’ alter ego who may just as well be a bootylicious half Black and half Caucasian woman who sings dark bluesy music in a British accent.
But who needs an alter ego when you’ve got such an amazing talent? Apparently, the refreshing luscious singer has stage performance anxiety. She confesses her dislike for tours as this has her hiding away and running out through fire exits in a vomit fit and even hurling projectile puke on someone.
At least that’s not due to an eating disorder as she admits her disdain for working out. The rather curvy singer, who is currently on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine, oozes with a rather subtle sensuality to her classic beauty. Adele believes in enjoying good food and wine and not go ape on cutting calories just to be able to show some skin like most young pop stars these days. Although she admires Katy Perry’s décolletage and her derriere, Adele says that she makes music to be appreciated with one’s ears …and not with one’s eyes.

Aspiring musician Rebecca Black has taken her music video debut viral. The song “Friday” hit the web more than a month ago, but it wasn’t until this past Friday that the video began to gain steam.
With over two million YouTube views, Rebecca could be the next big joke in music. Probably not what she wants to hear, but it’s hard to escape a Gawker headline that reads: “Is This The Worst Music Video Ever?”
The video is heavy on auto-tuned vocals and corny one liners that include:

Justin Bieber shouldn’t leave the house anymore. During a recent visit to the UK the teen heartthrob nearly caused riots at the Liverpool Hotel when more than 1,000 fans camped out to meet the singer.
According to reports, the entire city was populated with Bieber fans who were trying to meet him as he arrived in the country. The crowds were apparently so bad that police told Bieber and his staff to stay in their hotel or face the possibility of arrest.
While staying at the Hard Days Night Hotel Bieber has even been told to stay off his balcony.
According to Bieber’s rep:
“Justin and his team are being told they can’t leave the hotel and can’t be seen on any balconies or they will be arrested for inciting a riot,” adding, “They are complying with police demands…”

Lady Gaga has unleashed the video for Born This Way onto the world and in true Gaga fashion it’s strange, fun and just plain cool.
Directed by fashion photographer Nick Knight and in conjunction with the Haus of Gaga creative team and choreographer Laurieann Gibson the video uses the same rebirth theme that Gaga has been touting since the Grammy’s with heavy visual effects.
According to Gaga:
“This is the manifesto of Mother Monster,” and “Thus began the beginning of the new race. A race within the race of humanity, a race which bears no prejudice, no judgment, but boundless freedom.”

“21st Century Girl” the newest single from Will Smith’s daughter, Willow Smith has reached the web, several months after her first viral hit “Whip My Hair” debuted.
The danceable song is catchy and in this writers opinion not as annoying as Whip My Hair. At 10 years old Willow is already being compared to superstars including Rhianna and we’re sure she’ll just get better as she matures and finds her own voice.
Her new single debuted on Ryan Seacrest’s show on Monday morning and just like her first single it’s already spread across the web at breakneck speeds.

If you’ve been following the career of Justin Bieber you would almost certainly think he was a shoe-in for the “best new artist” Grammy at this years awards show, after all he’s sold millions of albums, has fans around the world and heck even his hairdo has become a pop phenomenon, however that wasn’t enough to keep Esperanza Spalding from robbing the Biebs of the award.
Esperanza took the title at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards with her jazzy songs and bass playing abilities, proving that sometimes even the Academy wants “real” musicians to take home top honors.
Kanye West didn’t go all Taylor Swift at this show either, saying of the “Best new artist” nod:
“Damn… I can’t find the words to explain how I feel about the best new artist award… Don’t wanna say the wrong thing.”

While her singing was great, Christina Aguilera messed up the actual lyrics to The Star-Spangled Banner at this years Super Bowl, a fact that she says has left her “devastated.”
Aguilera’s issue came when she sang:
“O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming” where she instead sang “What so proudly we watched at the twilight’s last gleaming…”
