Killing hundreds of people ,stranding thousands and leaving behind many people homeless, the tornadoes that wreaked havoc in the midwestern and southeastern US  has led the Rules of Engagement star  to extend a generous hand in the efforts of the Red Cross to reach out to affected people who are in desperate need of assistance.

The 46 yr old brother-in-law of famous designer Kate Spade, has long been a supporter of the Red Cross over the years.  He is an American Red Cross National Cabinet member, assisting the agency with it’s relief efforts through his personal donations and money raised  from his shows.  This enabled Spade to contribute $50,000 to the states of Kentucky and Tennessee in July of last year.

In a statement, The American Red Cross has expressed their deep appreciation for the actor’s unfailing  and selfless generous support through donating his time, talent and money to assist those in need.

Spade hopes that his move will encourage others to join him in his efforts to support the American Red Cross . Apparently, Charlie Sheen also shares this advocacy as the actor has launched a website in support of raising money for disaster relief  for tornado victims. His website,  TorpedosAgainstTornados.com promises to send any donor  who contributes $100 or more, a personally autographed baseball from the controversial 45 year old actor.

Justin Bieber takes his stand against bullying next to viral video hero Casey Heynes. If you haven’t heard of Casey Heynes, he is an Australian boy who became instantly famous from a cell phone video footage of him defending himself from a fellow schoolmate attacking him.

The said video instantly went viral and millions of people from around the world voiced out their heart for the 10^th grader student. Justin Bieber  was one of those who saw the video and learned of Casey’s story . Being able to closely relate to a teenager’s tough life, Bieber knew just how to make a statement on this matter as he flew Casey and his family to his concert in Melbourne. The singer even brought Casey out onto the stage with him, as the boy received proud cheers from the crowd.

In case you haven’t been reading much of Bieber fever news, the 17-year old pop idol has been quite the victim of bullying himself. Just recently he had eggs thrown at him onstage during one of his shows in Australia.  Refusing to get rattled by it, the singer kept on with his performance.  One would wonder though, why haters would even bother to spend money on tickets, stand with the maddening queue of fans, go through all that effort  only to throw eggs at a 17 year old boy. Geez, so much hate in this world.

As for Casey Heynes, he got his sweet revenge and a loud and proud statement to the world to always stand up against bullying.

Talk about an all-star cast! This time the project is not a Hollywood flick—it’s a non-profit organization that aims to help out the victims of the recent earthquake in Chile.

Wilmer Valderrama and Camilla Belle put up “I Am the Country” to raise awareness about the disaster-hit country. “We couldn’t help but notice, that perhaps given the timing, or just the circumstances in our industry, that this catastrophe has somehow become just a news article or another topic of conversation,” Wilmer and Camilla wrote on the organization’s official website.

Their first attempt to spread the word is through a public service ad. Celebrities such as Demi Lovato, Rosario Dawson, Alexander Skarsgard, and Topher Grace appeared in the video.

“We are joining forces to bring light to and raise awareness of the many ways you can help the country of Chile in their moment of desperation,” they said. “This inspired us to produce a PSA to use as a platform to show the simple ways we can all help the organizations that are providing assistance to the people of Chile.”

Do-gooder Beyoncé unveiled The Beyoncé Cosmetology Center at Phoenix House in Brooklyn, New York on Friday. She and her mother Tina, who is also her business partner, conceived this idea last year.

Not only is the program providing substance abuse treatment to drug and alcohol abuse patients, it will also offer a seven-month cosmetology training course for adult men and women, teaching the theory and practical skills that the recovering addicts need to pass the New York State Cosmetology Licensure Exam.

In her speech, Beyoncé talked about her mom’s early days when she owned a Houston beauty salon. “I remember my mother’s hair salon and the stories all the women would tell,” she said in her emotional speech. “How they laughed and cried together and left looking beautiful. I loved spending time at the salon.”

Since Beyoncé is a spokesperson for L’Oréal Paris, the beauty brand is generously providing the products for the classes.

It features an introduction by Jamie Fox, followed by the much-awaited remake of 1985’s “We Are The World” for Africa. This time it’s for the benefit of Haiti earthquake victims. The class of “We Are The World” 2010 features a roster of singers from different age groups, genres, and cultural backgrounds. Among the artists are: Celine Dion, Gladys Knight, Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers, Jason Mraz, Nicole Scherzinger, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Selena Gomez, Wyclef Jean, Jennifer Hudson, Will Smith, Sheryl Crow, Mya, Pink, Barbra Streisand, Jordin Sparks, and Julianne Hough.

There’s a touching montage of the late Michael Jackson, with his sister Janet singing his parts. You’ll also notice some artists singing certain lines in Haiti’s Creole language. A number of hip-hop stars also rapped in this remake, giving it a modern twist.

Producer Lionel Richie’s final speech teaches people how to donate to Haiti. The official Youtube site also gives relevant information about the song, music video, and a link to the official website, World25.org, where you can make a donation and learn more about the project.

At Miami Beach last Wednesday, singer Jordin Sparks was sporting an unusual trend—face paint. No, she wasn’t cheering for her favorite Superbowl team; she was making a stand for her cause.

At the 3rd Annual Jordin Sparks Experience at Eden Roc Renaissance, the 20-year-old singer had warpaint that read “I’m M.A.D. Are you?” M.A.D. stands for “Making A Difference,” a project of Sparks Charities.

According to the website:

“This campaign is to encourage others, young and old, to get mad and funnel that energy into making a difference in their communities, families, and world by just doing something… plant a tree, mow your elderly neighbor’s lawn, pick up trash, donate money, write a letter to the troops, visit a sick child, be a friend to the lonely, read a book to a child, volunteer in a soup kitchen… anything. Their personal goal is to bring awareness to teen violence and prevention as they have been deeply touched, hurt, and angered by the amounts of senseless teen violence as of late.”

Quincy Jones helped Lionel mastermind the charity single, which coincides with the 25th anniversary of the original release. The recording wrapped up last Monday in LA, and there were over 80 singers in attendance, including: Celine Dion, Gladys Knight, Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers, Jason Mraz, Nicole Scherzinger, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Selena Gomez, Wyclef Jean, Jennifer Hudson, Will Smith, Sheryl Crow, Mya, Pink, Barbra Streisand, Jordan Sparks, and Julianne Hough.

The song will be available for download on February 7, while the 3D video will premiere during the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics later this month. All proceeds from the sale of the song will benefit the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

Hosted by Matt Levine, Solange Knowles, and Kevin Barnes, the party’s proceeds went straight to Yele, singer Wyclef Jean’s charity organization for Haiti earthquake victims. Guests included Jay-Z and Beyonce Knowles, who did a semi-reunion of Destiny’s Child when she sang with Michelle Williams. Solange played DJ the whole night, as she spun Michael Jackson and Prince tracks.

The 29-year-old popstar is trying to get people to donate 50,000 pairs of shoes in 50 days for the survivors of the Haiti earthquake. The drive is in collaboration with her hairstylist Ken Paves, her best friend and personal assistant Cacee Cobb, and Nashville foundation Soles4Souls.

Jessica recently tweeted:

She also posted a link to her fund drive’s official website, 50000shoes.com where supporters can check out how the can help out. “As little as $5 (that’s the price of a venti frap, by the way) provides two pairs of shoes,” the website said.

“I have arranged for a plane to take down some volunteer ministers and some supplies and some medics,” he told ET. “My church has also arranged for 80 medics and 33 volunteers to go down. I hope it inspires others.”

He is working with singers such as Susan Boyle, Michael Bublé, Rod Stewart, and Leona Lewis to sing REM’s ballad “Everybody Hurts.” Just like Lionel Richie’s upcoming “We Are The World” remake, all proceeds of Simon’s production will go to Haiti earthquake victims.

According to Wenn, Lionel Richie plans to re-team with Quincy Jones to produce a 2010 remake of “We Are The World,” this time for the benefit of Haiti earthquake victims.

To help the victims of Haiti, the 25-year-old actress is auctioning herself—or to be more specific, she is auctioning off the chance for four people (and no, you don’t necessarily have to be a guy!) to meet her at the opening night of her new Broadway play, A View from the Bridge, on January 24 at the Cort Theatre in New York City.

Some 16,000 students and teachers attended the musical event. Guest performers such as The Jonas Brothers, Justin Bieber, Hedley and dancers from So You Think You Can Dance Canada were received with ear-splitting cheers from the crowd.

The event wasn’t just about a cool concert. The kids and teens in attendance were in full support of the organization’s cause—to make tangible actions that make a better world, especially for children. Humanitarians, environmentalists, motivational speakers and politicians were greeted like rockstars at the event.

Justin Bieber performed the acoustic version of his hit “One Time” at We Day.

“We share with our team and we truly believe it’s not about us. It’s about the issues and we share that with all the young people,” said Marc Kielburger, one of the founders of Free The Children. “We’re just happy that the young people feel that it’s really cool to get socially engaged and what we’re fighting most of all is we’re fighting apathy.”

“Everyday action is our message and people respond to that message because they’re really searching to bring about a positive change in this world,” added co-founder Craig Kielburger.

With the success of the rally, it looks like the kids heard the message loud and clear.
