A Letter from Madonna Regarding Malawi Adoption

“My husband and I began the adoption process many months prior to our trip to Malawi. I did not wish to disclose my intentions to the world prior to the adoption happening as this is a private family matter. After learning that there were over one million orphans in Malawi, it was my wish to open up our home and help one child escape an extreme life of hardship, poverty and in many cases death, as well as expand out family.
Nevertheless, we have gone about the adoption procedure according to the law like anyone else who adopts a child. Reports to the contrary are totally inaccurate. The procedure includes an 18 month evaluation period after which time we hope to make this adoption permanent. This was not a decision or commitment that my family or I take lightly.
I am overwhelmed and inspired by my trip to Malawi and hope that it helps bring attention to how much more the world needs to do to help the children of Africa.
My heartfelt thanks for all the good wishes I have received and I hope the press will allow my family some room for us to experience the joy we feel to have David home.”

After the rekindling of the old flame, Eva Longoria spent some quality time with beau Tony Parker’s mother Pamela Firestone. Let me just say right now, Tony must get those fine, good looks from his father; ’cause I’m not seeing a whole lotta pretty here.
Longoria & Firestone hit some Parisian boutiques Sunday and they seem to be enjoying themselves behind those big-ass bags of theirs. Jeez, those look like a workout to carry around Paris.Â

As posted yesterday, it has finally been confirmed that Madonna is adopting a child in the African country Malawi.
And to me it looks like Madonna is taking her Vogue to the streets of Malawi. What in the heck is she doing in this picture? It looks like she’s trying to find some fresh backup dancer talent.
Anyhoo, we’re all very happy for the queen of pop & wish her and the Madonna family a happy congratulations on the Madoption.

Finally Confirmed: Madonna Files Malawi Adoption Papers

Well, it is finally confirmed, Madonna has filed adoption papers at a Malawi court today. The director of child welfare services, Kingston Kilembe, stated that Madonna & director husband Guy Ritchie filed the necessary papers before a judge at the Lilongwe High Court.
38-year-old Madonna was reported to have been in Malawi searching for a boy child to adopt, as posted earlier. And now it does indeed look like Madonna is a new mother once again.

A government source stated, “They [Madonna and Ritchie] have identified a baby boy in [the southern Lower Shire Valley district of] Chikwawa; we, as government, are arranging for that.”
“There are legal issues to be sorted out.”
According to Malawi laws, children cannot be adopted by anyone other than natives to the African country, but these laws have been waived for the pop goddess. Madonna & Ritchie will have to act as foster parents to the child before they can officially adopt after 18-24 months.
“After that the papers are filed in a court of law to complete the process,” the Malawi government source stated.
This will be the third child for Madonna, who will join 6-year-old son Rocco & 10-year-old Lourdes in the Madonna camp.

Michael Jackson Pays Off Ex-Wife Debbie Rowe

The end is finally here- no, Michael Jackson has not been banned from having or being near children, the legal battle between Jackson & ex-wife Debbie Rowe has come to a close, and MJ is paying up.
Debbie Rowe gave up visitation rights in 2001 to her children with Michael Jackson, 9-year-old Prince Michael & 8-year-old Paris. But three years ago Rowe decided she wanted that right back & put up a fight. Now the custody battle is finally over and it looks like the winner is Jackson.
Michael, who has been living in Bahrain since 2005, will be paying Rowe $750,000 a year to give up her rights to their children completely. A source close to Rowe stated, “It was hard for Debbie, but she’s broke.”
MJ’s lawyer Michael Abrams said, “Michael is satisfied with the results, and I believe Ms. Rowe is satisfied.”
How strange to have Michael Jackson as your father, let alone your husband. I just can’t imagine that. Poor kids, may they find some sanity later in their lives. What do you think- would you rather have been brought up by a wealthy MJ who can provide you a cushy life or would you rather have been raised by sinister hyenas in the bush? I’m thinking the safer bet is on the hyenas.

Paris Hilton & Nicole Richie BFF

Well, it looks like the long-running feud between Paris Hilton & Nicole Richie is over at last, or maybe that was just round one- we’ll see anyhoo.
Paris revealed, “I love Nicole, and I’m so glad we’re friends again.”
“I missed her. She’s like my sister — we’ve known each other 23 years. I’m glad we can put the feud behind us. I’m really happy she’s back in my life.â€
Wow, brave words spoken by Paris. Well, at least she was able to put a nicely structured sentence together, right?
Hilton & Richie fell out back in April 2005 and refused to speak with each other despite The Simple Life filming.
It looks like The Simple Life actually brought the two back together. A source close to the new BFF stated, “Paris and Nicole were due to meet with E! to discuss concepts for the next season of The Simple Life, and they decided to meet first.”
I’m still thinking round two is coming. What do you think?

Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt & Maddox’s India Autorickshaw Ride

Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt are in India to shoot scenes for a new movie about slain journalist Daniel Pearl. On a quick break, Angelina, Brad & their 5-year-old adopted son Maddox went on an autorickshaw ride Sunday.Â
But the ride turned out to be more of a spectacle as photographers, cameramen & reporters ran around the trio asking questions & shooting pictures, such as this one. Jolie & family were forced to turn their rickshaw around after just 20 minutes & head back to the hotel so they could hole up once again & escape the ever present media.
Poor, Mad. He’s going to be such an odd bird after this kind of Hollywood raising.

Kate Winslet Takes a Year Off Acting to be a Mom

Actress Kate Winslet has decided to give up her acting career for a year to be with her children. Winslet recently came to this decision while working on the film Little Children, in which a mother is emotionally & physically disconnected from her child.
“It was very trying to play a mother who basically couldn’t feel close to or look after the needs of her child,” Winslet stated.
“It was disturbing to put myself into that woman’s head and it made me all the more aware of my own responsibilities as a mother. It was such a cathartic experience to portray somebody who can’t cope with her life that it reminded me how much I need my own children.”
“That’s why I’ve decided to take a year off to be with the kids and watch them grow and just enjoy the feeling of being very motherly.”
“I’ve done enough good work in my career not to be worried or torn about not working.”
Kate, who has made three films in the past year alone, will be able to take it easy in the following months. Maybe she’ll have the best birthday ever this year, the actress turns 31 Thursday.

Anna Nicole Smith’s Lawyer Howard K. Stern Father of Her Baby

Breaking News: Anna Nicole Smith Dead
OMG! In breaking news, it looks like Larry Birkhead may not be the father of Anna Nicole Smith’s newborn daughter. Anna Nicole’s lawyer Howard K. Stern has come forward to say that he is the “proud father” of her baby girl who was born three days before her son Daniel Wayne died unexpectedly in the Bahamas.
Stern told CNN’s Larry King Live on Tuesday evening, “It’s been very rough.”
“She said that she didn’t want to trade out children, meaning she didn’t want one to be born and another to die.”
20-year-old Daniel Wayne died quite suddenly September 10 while he was visiting his mother in the maternity ward of the Bahamas hospital. Stern was with Anna Nicole & her son when he died that night. He informed Larry King that they had named their newborn daughter Dannie Lynn Hope to keep Daniel Wayne’s memory alive.
Stern’s daughter with Anna Nicole is “the one thing that is really keeping her going,” the lawyer stated.
“And through it all, even with all the pain, she has been a great mom, a very attentive mom.”
“Anna and I have been in a relationship and we love each other and it’s been going on for a very long time.” Stern said. “Because of my relationship as her lawyer, we felt that it was best to keep everything hidden.â€
Stern told King that he & new mom Anna Nicole plan to stay in the islands long term, for to give their daughter a new life, away from the prying eyes of the media.
Larry asked Howard if the two planned on getting married, Stern responded, “I’ve loved her for quite some time and hopefully the feeling’s mutual. At some point, we will. Right now we have to somehow get through what we’re going through.”
However we might still have the jury out on the paternity of Dannie Lynn Hope, photojournalist Larry Birkhead sent a statement to CNN countering Stern’s claim of paternity. He stated, “I’ve been told by Anna Nicole Smith that I’m the father of her newborn child. I have proof of it…I am requesting that a DNA test take place in the United States.”
â€Does it give you concern that there might be a shot that the DNA might exclude you?†King asked the attorney, reading Birkhead’s statement. “Or is there no doubt that you’re the father?â€
â€I think based on the timing of it, that there shouldn’t be a doubt,†Stern countered.
As for the mysterious cause of Daniel Wayne Smith’s death, Stern said, “We’re still waiting to find out what the cause is.”
“We also now have an indication that there may have been other prescriptive medication in his system.”
Wow. That’s a Wednesday morning doozie.

WTF: Did David Hasselhoff Prank Call 911?

Ummm, place this story under weird with the subheading weird, under the title weird.
According to David Hasselhoff’s ex-wife Pamela Bach, the former Baywatch star lied to the police when he called 911 to report that his young daughter Hayley had tried to commit suicide. WTF?
David made a 911 call Sunday night stating that Hayley had “cut herself”. Now her mother has revealed that the young Hasselhoff never tried to kill herself, it was just a spite call to the police by David to make Pamela look like a bad parent. My god, have we not graduated from high school theatrics yet?

Bach stated that 14-year-old Hayley was scratched by the family feline Sunday evening at 6pm.  Hayley began to cry uncontrollably which prompted Bach to call David and suggest they take their daughter to see a psychologist on Monday. At that point, David threatened to call the law on her.

“You’re going down,†he allegedly told Bach. “I’m calling the police.”
The cops & paramedics arrived on the scene and took Hayley to the hospital, where she was released almost immediately.
As of right now:  Hasselhoff denies telling a 911 operator there was a suicide attempt as well as ever talking with Bach on Sunday evening. The Hoff, on his way to a film festival, left town without visiting his daughter. What a great parent.

Kevin Federline Ex Shar Jackson Will Not Meet Spears Family

Kevin Federline’s ex refuses to meet his children with pop diva Britney Spears. Shar Jackson, remember her from Moesha?, wants to keep the space between her & Spears quite open.
As posted earlier this year, Jackson & Federline have a two-year old son Kaleb & a four-year-old daughter Corey together. With Brit & K-Fed’s children together, one-year-old Sean Preston & newborn Sutton Pierce, Kevin has been a busy lad for his young years.
Shar reveals, “I like to keep my distance.”
K-Fed, being the considerate gentleman he is, left Jackson when she was pregnant with their second child after he met Spears at a nightclub & joined her on the European leg of her tour.
Jackson shares her feeling from the break-up, “As far as I was concerned, I was OK that the relationship ended…but the family breaking up is something painful.
“And honestly I didn’t let it happen. Now in the beginning it was rough, because he was overseas, so I really didn’t have much control over there.
“But when he came back home, I told him, ‘Kevin, I’m not going to let you be a convenient father, when it’s convenient for you.’
“If you are going to be part of these kids’ lives, then you’re going to be a part. If not, then you’re not.’”
All I can say is the ubiquitous, you go girl!

Ashton Kutcher & Demi Moore Toronto Film Festival

Do I really need a reason to post these cute lovebirds? Ashton Kutcher & sexy wife Demi Moore are snapped at the 31st Annual Toronto International Film Festival last week. Aren’t they just lovely?
In recent Ashton & Demi news, Kutcher has installed a bar in their master suite walk-in closet. Ashton claims Demi’s daily preparation rituals have driven him to drink.
He explains, ‘It takes me like 15 minutes to get ready and she’s got more complicated measures, there’s shoes and the dress and the thing… It’s like that dreaded, ‘How do I look?’ question that comes, and there’s no right answer to that. You’re just wrong. If you answer too fast it means you didn’t really look.
“If it’s too slow, it means you didn’t like it. So it doesn’t really matter what you say, you’re just wrong. So I just drink a lot now. And it helps. I get more right the more I drink. It’s like I hone in, ‘Those shoes are great! Is that a wood sole, because it’s beautiful!’ It all works out.”
