Glamour and style is big in the celeb world, but even the rich and famous get it wrong sometimes. Even with stylists around them, many A-list stars don’t know how to dress for a specific location or occasion and end up embarrassing themselves terribly.

Supermodel Naomi Campbell shocked animal lovers everywhere when she was snapped wearing fur after posing for a PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) ad. The star modelled a selection of coats made from Russian saple, as part of a campaign for designer Dennis Basso, whose creations sell for up to $200,000 each. The catwalk beauty is not the only celeb to have been caught out donning animals skins with Madonna, Rihanna and Kanye West all named on PETA’s Worst-Dressed lists.

If you want a glamorous outfit without wearing a dead animal round your neck, faux fur is all the range these days. Now you can look a million dollars without running the risk of illegally buying the glossy coat of an endangered species. Read the rest of this entry »

British Elle Style Awards

Hooray for fashionistas! They dare challenge fashion convention and make us look forward to their red carpet photos because we know they won’t be wearing the usual glam gowns.

See which celebs rose to the occasion at the UK Elle Style Awards last Tuesday.

Kristen Stewart: “Coz I got one hand in my pocket, and the other one’s…” receiving an award? The shy Twilight star got the Woman of the Year award and didn’t disappoint with her Emilio Pucci dress.

Now you know why there were named Elle’s Style Icons of 2010. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen rocked their own signature styles—Mary-Kate in her gothic Lanvin, and Ashley in her tulle couture Christian Lacroix.

I don’t know who else could rock a python-print gown. Supermodel Naomi Campbell, 39, was given the Outstanding Contribution award for her 25-year career and her work as global patron of The White Ribbon Alliance (WRA), which promotes safe pregnancy. She dedicated her award to the late Alexander McQueen.

What baby bump? Danii Minogue managed to hide her bun in the oven with this one-shoulder yellow gown by Australian designer Lisa Ho.

Mrs. Beckham in a t-shirt?! Get out! You know something’s up if Posh Spice comes to a fashion show wearing a t-shirt. In this case, she did it for supermodel Naomi Campbell’s Fashion For Relief Haiti Fall 2010 Show last Friday.

Since it was for charity, Victoria even showed off her “Help Heal Haiti” t-shirt to photographers. Of course, she played it up by wearing a designer blazer over the shirt.

Chris Brown: Supah-model

He cleans up pretty well. R&B singer Chris Brown was among the celebrities who strutted their stuff down the runway for “Naomi Campbell’s Fashion For Relief Haiti” Fall 2010 Show during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 2010 in New York City last Friday.

I heard he did a good job compared to more professional supermodels who tripped on the runway. But then again, Chris wasn’t wearing 5-inch stilettos.

Supermodels such as (see photo above) Helena Christensen, Georgina Chapman, Naomi Campbell, and Daphne Guinness wore Alexander McQueen threads as a tribute to the designer who tragically passed away last week.

Naomi Campbell banned from British Airways

British Airways has issued a lifetime ban against Naomi Campbell. “All incidents of abusive or disruptive behavior towards fellow passengers or staff are taken extremely seriously and will not be tolerated,” the airline said in a statement Tuesday. The supermodel supposedly assaulted a police officer after an altercation with an airline attendant over missing luggage.

Naomi spits at police

Naomi Campbell, supermodel, lost her poise at the airport — assaulting a police officer, and then spitting at other cops who came to the scene. (This is her second assault charge.)

So not glamorous, though her reps say that she was practically provoked. She was flying to L.A. for a memorial service, understandably distressed by the sad circumstances of her flight, when the airport lost her luggage. Police, on the other hand, said the was “obnoxious” from the beginning because she wasn’t allowed in the VIP lounge.

She was taken into custody and then released on bail.
