First, Jessica Simpson was the ditzy but lovable blonde—with her classic moments in MTV’s hit reality show Newlyweds, her typecast roles in Dukes of Hazzard and Blonde Ambition, and her picture-perfect pop singing career.

Second, there was little sister Ashlee. She had to come off completely different from Jessica, so she went brunette and channeled her inner angst for a pop/rock career.

Soon Jessica’s marriage and bubblegum strategy plummeted. Post-Nick Lachey and post-Dukes, her image was plagued with relationship problems, weight issues, and career staleness. It was time for a revamp and Joe Simpson found the perfect marketing plan.

Instead of going down the Britney Spears route, it was time to present the public with a more positive image of Jessica. Hence, Jessica Simpson: The Beauty Ambassador was born.

The 29-year-old launched a new VH1 reality show called The Price of Beauty, where she travels around the world with her best friend CaCee Cobb and hairstylist Ken Paves to discover beauty customs and women’s cultures in other countries.

She also launched Operation Smile, an initiative that empowers women to appreciate their own beauty. The project will “develop tips and interactive tools that will help young people take this newfound inner strength and share what they’ve learned to empower others to do the same.”

Jessica is taking this new role seriously—that of an empowered and transparent woman who inspires other women to embrace themselves for who they really are. How Oprah. How Marie Claire.

Speaking of Marie Claire magazine, Jessica is featured on their May issue, and it isn’t your usual glam cover. Jessica bares it all with no makeup and no Photoshop retouching. Although this whole au naturale photo shoot is no longer a new concept, I admire Jessica for doing it. It takes good self-esteem for celebrities to show how they really look—wrinkles, age spots, and all—to the public.

“I don’t have anything to prove anymore. What other people think of me is not my business,” she told Marie Claire.

After a few failed attempts to revamp her career, I believe Jessica’s new packaging will actually work. Good job, Joe!

The last time we saw her on reality TV was when she was still married to Nick Lachey on The Newlyweds. Who could forget her “I don’t eat buffalo” and “Is this chicken or tuna” quips?

Five years and X number of ex-boyfriends later, the 29-year-old singer/actress is back for a solo project: The Price of Beauty.

The reality TV show debuted last Monday on VH1 and is produced by RDF USA (Wife Swap, Secret Millionaire). The more mature Jessica Simpson—after spending a year being ridiculed in tabloids for her weight—is eager to discover beauty customs in other countries.

In the premiere, she and her best friend CaCee Cobb and hairstylist Ken Paves visited Thailand, where they met the Karen tribe and a woman who destroyed her skin with bleaching. The next episodes will take them to other countries such as Japan, Brazil, and India, where they will meet everyday women and examine their views, traditions, and practices on beauty.

And yes, you will still hear her trademark quips and blonde moments. During the Thai massage, Jessica remarked: “I hope I don’t pass gas.”

Celebrities have really been stepping up to help Haiti earthquake victims. We’ve heard of telephone marathons, fundraisers, and even musical collaborations. Now it’s Jessica Simpson’s turn.

The 29-year-old popstar is trying to get people to donate 50,000 pairs of shoes in 50 days for the survivors of the Haiti earthquake. The drive is in collaboration with her hairstylist Ken Paves, her best friend and personal assistant Cacee Cobb, and Nashville foundation Soles4Souls.

Jessica recently tweeted:

She also posted a link to her fund drive’s official website, 50000shoes.com where supporters can check out how the can help out. “As little as $5 (that’s the price of a venti frap, by the way) provides two pairs of shoes,” the website said.

Jessica Simpson has been called a lot of things, but have you ever thought of her as a bad a**? Well her personal trainer calls her just that. Apparently, she is working it out to the limit. I am sure she'll get her old bod back in no time!

She might not have made it really big as a singer. She might not have captured the hearts of her critics either, but Jessica Simpson seems to have something going great for her right now as a designer. Her bikini designs are going to be used for Miss USA this weekend. Way to go!

Jessica Simpson is in Kuwait to help boost the morale of U.S. troops, though some reports are slamming her for bringing an entourage of celebrity hairstylist and numerous assistance, and flying by private jet, too. Her rep denies these rumors. “She flew commercially, she is staying in the barracks,” Berger tells PEOPLE. “She’s been with the troops all day. She’s had her meals with them.” Plus, though Jessica’s brought a makeup artist and hair stylist, “She’s not with Ken Paves. She has significantly scaled back her entourage.”

Jessica looks completely happy even though she’s gotten a lot of flack from sports fans who blame her for boyfriend Tony Romo’s bad performance. Guess their relationship’s going strong, too… She just got back from a weekend with him, and is wearing his Dallas Cowboys cap. Aaaw.

Jessica Simpson and Owen Wilson met a few weeks ago at a Willie Nelson video — and have been getting along, very, very well. The two were spotted at the Huntley Hotel in Sta. Monica, where they had a quick dinner before returning to his Malibu home to “get to know each other better”.

Things are looking up for Owen, who tried to commit suicide last August. Well, Jessica may be the breast — oops, we mean best — form of therapy.

I can’t help that I find this bit of news not only humourous but also fitting the star.  Jessica Simpson’s newest addition to American cinema, Blonde Ambition, might be headed straight to DVD.  Basically Simpon’s acting couldn’t be any worse.

According to an insider the film is going straight to the movie rental walls & skipping the silver screen altogether.   “It is going straight to DVD domestically. It will only come out in theaters internationally,” the source states.

The only thing I do feel a bit bad about is that hottie Luke Wilson also stars in the film, but serves him right for gaining all that weight anyway.

So, how bad is the movie?  “The movie is absolutely horrible.  It’s just a bomb, mainly because of Jessica’s acting,” replies an insider.

But Jess’ rep doesn’t believe it for a minute, saying, “It’s definitely a theatrical release.”

Hmmm, who to believe?  I’m going with the insiders myself.  Sorry Luke!  Lesson to be learned: never star in the same movie with Jessica-Can’t-Act-Simpson.  Stick to that singing, Jess.
