Another One Bites The Dust, Subway Pulls Ads From MTV’s Skins

MTV Skins Cast

MTV’s new TV series Skins has lost their fourth advertiser. Subway has decided that the new show is too controversial and they have parted ways.

The show has come under fire in the last week from The Parents Television Council (PTC) who claims that the shows use of underage actors and actresses in sexual scenes borders on child pornography and exploitation. The average age of show members is 15 to 19 years old, although no nudity is shown.

In the last week Taco Bell, General Motors and Wrigley Gum have all announced that they will not allow their ads to run any further on the show.

An H&R Block ad also ran by accident during an episode of the show which forced H&R Block to express their anger at the network.

Wrigley Pulls Ads From MTV's Skins

First Taco Bell pulled their ads from the MTV show Skins and now Wrigley chewing gum has announced that they have done the same.

A Wrigley rep told Access Hollywood:

“Wrigley has decided to suspend any advertising during MTV’s Skins as it is never our intent to endorse content that could offend our consumers. Any ads that previously aired during the show were part of a broader advertising plan with the network.”

The show has come under fire by the Parents Television Council (PTC) who have called for a government investigation into the shows use of children actors, an action they call child pornography and exploitation.

Taco Bell Pulls Ads From MTV’s “Skins” Series


MTV Skins

MTV loves their controversy, first Jersey Shore pissed off the Italian demographic and now their new show Skins has drawn the outrage of the Parents Television Council (PTC) which has asked for a Child Pornography investigation to be opened against the network's new show.

If you're unfamiliar with Skins the show portrays teenagers using illegal drugs, drinking and engaging in sexual acts. The nature of the show has led the watchdog group to call for an official investigation into the shows content which features children as young as 15 years-old engaging in illegal activity.

According to the watchdog group the show uses:

“foul language illegal drug use, illegal activity as well as thoroughly pervasive sexual content.”
