Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift Spotted Out Together

Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift - Nashville

It’s too early to call this one a reunion, but it looks like Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift could be dating once again.

The ex-couple were spotted in Taylor’s hometown digs of Nashville this week, just over a month after they called off their two-month relationship.

Insiders close to the couple said Taylor was “unable to eat” after the first breakup which reportedly occurred because of the couple’s nine-year gap and intense media attention.

Jake Gyllenhaal And Anne Hathaway Get Naked For Entertainment Weekly

Jake Gyllenhaal And Anne Hathaway On Entertainment Weekly Cover

They’ve played spouses (Brokeback Mountain) and lovers (Love & Other Drugs), now they get naked.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway pose nude for the newest edition of Entertainment Weekly and the photoshoot appears to have been pretty silly with the pair appearing at least to have had a great time.

According to Hathaway she “totally fell apart” when she first had to get naked in front of Gyllenhaal and the camera crew on the set of Love & Other Drugs, but she says that she eventually got a hang of it and even got naked once just for fun.

Celebrific Screen Scene — May 28, 2010

Movie-wise, there’s possibly something for everyone this week, with a couple of big flicks, at least in hype if not in quality. IMDB lists four new releases, and you can get more details from their profile pages, which I’ve linked to from each movie’s title.

New Releases

  • Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, Ben Kingsley. Directed by Mike Newell. This one looks very much like the recent Mummy flicks with Brendan Fraser, at least in terms of the CGI. But it does look entertaining, despite being based on a video game. Apparently Gyllenhaal put in quite the effort to improving his physique.
  • Sex and the City 2: Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon. Directed by Michael Patrick King. I was enough of a fan of the TV series to watch when I could, but I missed the first movie. Unfortunately, I’ve heard nothing good so far about SatC 2; only that there’s a lot of “bore” and “excess”. Still, die-hard fans will probably go, for completion.
  • Survival of the Dead: Alan Van Sprang, Kenneth Welsh, Kathleen Munroe. Directed by George A. Romero. Romero’s back with yet another ‘Dead’ zombie flick, but again in his newer style, which fans of his original material (before Land of the Dead) apparently tend to stay away from.
  • Micmacs [limited; French]: Danny Boon, Andre Dussollier, Nicolas Marie. Directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. Jeunet is a multi-award-winning director, as well as a writer, producer and actor. Notable is 1991′s Delicatessen dark, futuristic comedy, balanced against a genre flick like 1997′s Alien: Resurrection. But beyond the plot as listed in IMDB, I know nothing about Micmacs.

Data from IMDB’s Now Playing page.

Also Playing

Still in theaters: Shrek Forever After, Iron Man 2, Robin Hood, Letters to Juliet, Just Wright, MacGruber and others, mostly released last week.

Upcoming Movies/ Roles

  • Logan’s Run, slated for a 2012 release might have a new director, Carl Rinsch. The movie is being produced by Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman, and is based, I assume, on both the 1976 movie (with Michael York, Farrah Fawcett, Peter Ustinov) and the short-lived 1977 TV series (Gregory Harrison, who is Paul Norris on One Tree Hill), not to mention the original novel from 1967. [Heat Vision]
  • Emma Roberts will join ‘Scream 4′. I must have lost track; I thought they were at #5. But the much of the original cast is in it: Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Neve Campbell. [Hollywood Insider]
  • Brendan Fraser will likely not be starring in the sequel for Journey to the Center of the Earth. Directing duties might fall to Brad Peyton. [Deadline]
  • The next Spiderman script has five contenders for the lead role: Jamie Bell, Alden Ehrenreich, Andrew Garfield, Frank Dillane, Josh Hutcherson. [Perez Hilton]
  • Nina Dobrev of the show Vampire Diaries will join Kellan Lutz and Samuel L. Jackson in the action movie Deathgames. [Heat Vision]
  • James McAvoy will play the younger version of Professor X (previously played by Patrick Stewart) in the next installment of the X-Men movies, X-Men: First Class, which takes place before the trilogy. [Hollywood, Heat Vision]

Screen Scene Tidbits

  • Al Pacino and Robert De Niro are two of the best actors in Hollywood, and on my top five faves. But does that mean they’re qualified to play Rat Pack pals Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra in an upcoming biopic? Martin Scorcese thinks so, and that means it’s pretty likely to happen. [The Playlist]
  • The Harry Potter film series is coming to an end. Can you believe it’s been about 10 years since the first one?! Apparently a few of the cast members, including Daniel Radcliffe, are a bit emotional as they’re wrapping up the last movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I (2010; Part II will be released in 2011). [People]
  • Human Centipede is said to be one of the most revolting films ever made — so much so that some audience members were dry heaving in their seats during a viewing; the rest made for the door. But some wag got the clever idea to turn the opportunity into a Web-based video game — which doesn’t seem as offensive. If you don’t already know why Human Centipede the movie is so offensive, trust me, you never want to know. Even the description is revolting. Don’t even look it up. If you’re a little curious, play the Human Centipede Web game, which is just a clone of the original Centiped video game. Note: this game is NOT for the kiddies.

Enjoy the movies!

Celebrific Screen Scene — May 24, 2010

It took Shrek Forever After (aka Shrek 4) to bump Iron Man 2 out of the top box office spot, and it was a big bump. Shrek took in $71.2M for it’s opening weekend. Iron Man 2, which has been out for weeks, only took in $26.6M. Robin Hood dropped to second spot with $18.7M. Letters to Juliet took 4th, and Just Wright was 4th. MacGruber, which just opened, bombed, with only $4.1M in receipts, to take 6th place. Well, when you base a whole movie on a lame SNL skit that has an annoying soundtrack, it’s not surprising. Will Forte appearing naked was enough to bring people in, I guess.  [Data from IMDB]

Prince of Persia with Jake Gyllenhaal opened in foreign markets, ahead of its N. American debut, and while hitting #1 in 18 of 19 markets (just not in the U.K.), it still only took in $18M in receipts. The downturn in box office is apparently partially affected by the warm weather there over the weekend.

Hollywood is trying to find a way to reach consumers home screens (aka TV) with new movies sooner than usual. Apparently the big studios are in talks with the big cable operators, and if things work out, you could see a new theatrical release on your TV set within four weeks instead of the typical four months. However, there’s a fairly hefty price for that privilege, and it might run $20-30 per movie. Something like this could be implemented as soon as late 2010 or early 2011. Oh great. I’m sure theater owners will be happy with this plan. Of course, they could just jack up the popcorn and soda for all those of us that are old-school and like to watch some new movies on a giant screen.

Bob and Harvey Weinstein, who have produced some of Hollywood’s biggest films, have been trying to work out a deal to reclaim Miramax Films from Walt Disney Co., but the deal fell apart after weeks of negotations — mainly due to issues about how Miramax would fit in with The Weinstein Co. According to the LA Times, new negotiations might bring back two other brothers, investors Alec and Tom Gores. Miramax, which the Weinstein brothers were forced out of, was named for their parents, Miriam and Max.

The rumor circulating is that the couple have split. A rep for Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal was quick to respond to the rumor, though, and says that it is NOT true. The couple are very much still together and a split is far from happening. Good for them, right?

Well, she was seen wearing a gold diamond ring. What else are we supposed to think? Access Hollywood says that it is NOT an engagement ring, though, and that Reese and boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal are not going to tie the knot anytime soon.

Jake is Choked Up

jgyllenhaal.jpg

Jake Gyllenhaal has been taking Heath Ledger’s death really hard. The two became close friends while filming Brokeback Mountain. He’s even godfather to Heath’s daughter, Matilda.

Jake had to take a leave of absence from filming his new movie, Brothers. Co-stars said that he had left the set the moment he heard about the death. Though he did return to shoot another scene, he often sat on the director’s chair, blankly staring into space.

He’s taken a leave of absence from the movie and has been turning to girlfriend Reese Witherspoon for much needed emotional support.
