Natalie Portman Wins Her First Oscar, Prepares To Be A Mom

Natalie Portman trained in the art of Ballet for a year before taking on her role in David Aronofsky’s critically lauded film Black Swan and her hard work paid off with Portman taking home her first Academy Award at Sunday nights awards ceremony.
In the movie Portman played troubled ballerina Nina Sayers and during her speech she had this to say:
“I truly, sincerely, wish the prize was to get to work with my fellow nominees. I’m so in awe of all of you.”
Three Well Known Hollywood Talents Left Out Of Oscar In Memoriam Montage

As Oscars night 2011 drew to a close a bit of controversy arose after it was pointed out that three well known Hollywood talents were left off the shows "In Memoriam" montag which highlights top Hollywood mainstays who passed since the last Academy Awards show.
Last year Farrah Fawcett was left off the montage and this year Corey Haim, who died of an accidental drug overdose on March 10, 2010 was not seen, just as he was left off the SAG Awards' own In Memoriam.
Also missing was Peter Graves who died of a heart attack just four days after Haims and All In The Family's Betty Garrett who passed earlier this month on February 12, 2011.

Early Oscar talk darling The Social Network was only able to pull in awards for best adapted screenplay (Aaron Sorkin), best soundtrack (Trent Reznor) and best film editing, while The King's Speech pulled in top honors for best actor, best director and the coveted best picture among various other categories.
From the "F Bomb" being dropped to some big upsets, here's the full list of Oscar 2011 Winners:
1. Best Picture: “The King’s Speech.”
2. Actor: Colin Firth, “The King’s Speech.”
3. Actress: Natalie Portman, “Black Swan.”
Oscar Nominations 2011 Announced, The King’s Speech Leads With 12 Nods

If you worked on the The Kings Speech in 2010 you have reason to celebrate, your heralded movie has delivered with 12 Oscar nominations.
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences today announced this years Academy Award nominations and the 83rd annual event delivered pretty much what we expected with The King's Speech gaining a bunch of nods, 127 Hours receiving some attention and the Social Network appearing numerous times.

James Franco and Anne Hathaway To Host Oscars

James Franco and Anne Hathaway have been tapped by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences to host the upcoming 2011 Academy Awards.
Oscar producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer said in a statement Monday:
“James Franco and Anne Hathaway personify the next generation of Hollywood icons— fresh, exciting and multi-talented. We hope to create an Oscar broadcast that will both showcase their incredible talents and entertain the world on February 27.”
Justin Timberlake Begins “Social Network” Oscar Campaign

Justin Timberlake wants an Oscar for his role as Napster founder Sean Parker in the smash hit biopic The Social Network and industry sources are now saying that he’s begun to heavily campaign for the award. Timberlake currently has six Grammy’s and two Emmy’s.
According to the Page Six Column of The New York Post, Timberlake is preparing an aggressive campaign to be nominated for the top acting award.
Timberlake already has a Facebook campaign supporting his bid for the Oscar.

Last Sunday’s Oscar Awards left lasting memories for Hollywood’s present generation. Which one’s your favorite?
1. Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker) made history when she became the first female to win Best Director, beating her ex-husband James Cameron in the process. Double wham!
2. Avatar, the world’s biggest grossing movie ever, was a triple winner (Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects).
3. Sandra Bullock won the Oscar for Best Actress (The Blind Side) one night after the Razzies gave her the Worst Actress Award (All About Steve).
4. After being nominated for the Oscars five times, Jeff Bridges finally won his first Best Actor award for Crazy Heart.

Sandra Bullock: Oh, The Irony!

Oh, Sandy! The 45-year-old actress was honored and dishonored in the same weekend. She took home the Worst Actress trophy for her movie All About Steve at the Golden Raspberry Awards on Saturday, March 6th, a day before bagging the Best Actress award at the Oscars for her role in The Blind Side.

At the Razzies, Sandra was given a standing ovation when she picked up her award; she was the first Worst Actress recipient to actually attend the show since Halle Berry was shamed for her role in 2005’s Catwoman.
The good-humored actress was armed with a box of All About Steve DVDs, as she told the crowd they all need to watch her performance again because she’s not convinced she deserves the dishonor. She got another trophy that night for Worst Screen Couple with her co-star Bradley Cooper.
The Oscars was a different story. In her Best Actress acceptance speech, she paid tribute to the other nominees—Gabby Sidibe, Carey Mulligan, Helen Mirren, and Meryl Streep. She also gave an emotional tribute to her late mother, Helga Bullock. View the full transcript of her speech here.
