“I’d be lying if I said I was completely fine. I was nervous and I was a little bit worried. But not meaning to drop a name, I talked to Gary Oldman about it, because we get on very well and I know he’s been naked onstage.
“And so I said to him, ‘What’s it like?’ and he said, ‘On the first night you’ll be terrified and on the second night you’ll be terrified and after that you won’t care.’ And that’s absolutely true. When you’ve done it twice, it doesn’t matter anymore.”

I’m honestly suprised. I would have never thought, Daniel, (harry potter) would be naked in a play. I understand hes turning into a man, but to let Rupert Grint and Emma Watson…..and his parents go see him in the nude in a play….fighting whatever is just plain weird and disgusting. I love Daniel Radcliffe, but his choice to be in that kind of (ew!) like thing is totally barbaric. Why would the “Harry” we all know and love let himself turn- well I dont know.
Anyways I give kudos to Daniel Radcliffe for his courage to stand out butt naked infront of his friends and family because I would never do that, and I also give another kudos to him for all his great Harry Potter movies. But yeah.

I so agree! Daniel should not be putting himself out there like that to other people! Its disgusting! What if a child saw this?

He has the complete right to do this. And the play was not about nudity at all. It is a very good play but everyone overlooks it because theres Daniel Radcliffe naked in it. He wants to show that hes capable of being an actor and he says that be naked isn’t going to stop him.

I find it interesting that this is such a big deal. Actors get naked all the time – because PEOPLE get naked all the time. Art imitates life, right? Just because his most famous role to date is as an actor in children’s movies doesn’t mean he can’t take other, more adult roles!

I agree with you, Emily, Daniel is an ACTOR and Harry Potter is a CHARACTER he plays. And as far as I know Equus is NOT a play for children so they cannot see him there, am I right? So why are all the people concerned about children seeing him naked? it’s ridiculous, it’s not TV.
Daniel I LOVE YOU!!! GO ON LIKE THIS!!!

I haven’t seen the play but i know it was a big change for him, from cute little harry potter to hot and sexy naked guy.And if that’s not a change i don’t know what is.However for the details mazagine spread,i did see it and i watched him on youtube talking in that same little voice, but the voice was coming out of that crimson chined god of a body and i don’t think anyone will ever look at him the same way, cause we never would of seen it coming. If we knew that under that cute little uniform lied a man we so would have suggested Equus a long time ago!But if i had seen it i know it would have been great stuff…..i mean the play
I love you daniel radcliffe and i can act in a british accent,so if your dierector is looking for another atachment to the next two movies i can act.Really well!

From the previous commenters Emily and Car you have the open mind that so many people lack in this world. I think what Dan is doing and have done in Equus is outstanding! It takes a lot of guts just to go up on stage and perform. But it takes even MORE to go the Full Monty! It shows that he’s a very mature young man who is serious about his career and I think we should support him in more roles like this, not just HP. If I was his parents I would be so proud and I believe even his friends are. People, especially my fellow Americans need to take a deeper look into what Art really is and appreciate the fact that inhibitions come out! Don’t fear them, embrace them. And that is what I would tell Dan if ever he has any doubts. YOU GO BOY!!! ;p

I liked Daniel as Harry Potter before. But after seeing this I love him. Its his job and he is doing it without any hesitation, its commendable. I wish him luck for his future which I dont think is really needed because he is doing a great job.
I LOVE YOU DAN.

“Turning into a MAN?”. Since birth I’ve been “Turning into a man” and I am not the same infant I was at one day old. I, eventually, grew the pubes and “turned into a man”. Come on now. Daniel Radcliffe knew that unless he broke out of the Harry Potter role everyone was used to, his career in acting was over. He would always be “Harry Potter” if he didn’t break out of the mold. As far as kids are concerned, go ahead, give me more of the same excuses as to why parents don’t “police” the kids websurfing habits. The kids are the clay, and you are the sculpturer. Quit laying all the blame on the cyberbabysitting service to pick up your tab and raise your kids in a “morale” fashion. If anything, you parents are to blame and there is not other excuse for your laziness as parents. If you love your kids and want them to grow up as responsible representations of what you are not, you’ll look in the mirror and see the person who is to blame for for your own lack of responsibility to your kids upbringing.

I can’t believe people are overreacting to this level! It was a play people, in which Daniel is on stage naked for a minimal amount of time, and it is crucial to the plot. The play is not one for children, so you can stop stressing about that. What is seen in the publicity shots is nothing more than would be seen in a calvin klein advert, and a hell of a lot more modest than that great British tradition ‘the page three girl’. Equus is a fantastic play, Daniel Radcliffe is an amazing actor (who just happens to be rather hot), and to say that your esteem for him as an actor has gone down because he has had the guts to take on an extremely challenging role is ridiculous!
