madonna-david-banda-malawian-officials-11-10-2006.jpgDespite the criticisms Madonna has faced, a couple of Malawian officials are praising her for her recent adoption of Malawi native, 1-year-old David Banda.

Several critics have suggested that it would have been better for Banda had Madonna helped the impoverished father to care for him in Malawi, instead of whisking the boy off to London away from his natural, African culture.

One of the officials stated that what Madonna has done “is great,” while the other feels that the queen of pop’s charity has helped several thousand children in Malawi, and that the government “is grateful.”  Which basically means, “We’ve been paid too much to open our mouths about this particular topic.”
