Ooooo!  26-year-old Jessica Simpson & 29-year-old John Mayer were actually spotted in a date at the Paradise Cove Beach Cafe in Malibu.  The hour-long lunch rendezvous took place November 12, and we’re guessing that it didn’t end there!!! 

A witness to the event stated, “She didn’t eat much.  She drank double vodka cranberries. When they got up, Jessica was rubbing his back. You could definitely tell they were on a date.â€�   Sounds like the perfect date to me, hand me a vodka cranberry & I’m yours whether you want me or not!

Allegedly, Mayer is a big sweetie to servers and left a $40 tip on a $100 bill, Mayer is always welcome at my table.

Is this it?  Is this the time that John & Jess will finally date a bit?  Then get pregs?  Then get married?  Which is apparently all the rave in Hollywood these days, if you don’t get pregnant before the wedding day, it’s just so not ‘in’.

According to a Simpson pal, this could be the right time for a Mayer romance, “She’s taking her time with it.”

A Mayer source adds, “It’s a flirtation. I wouldn’t call it full-on dating, but there is a fondness. He doesn’t like the attention, but he likes her. He wants to avoid the public scrutiny of last time.â€�

Leave it to the boy’s side to make it sound so casual, a flirtation.  Well, I’m all very excited about this development reported by gossip giant Us Weekly, and I can’t wait to hear more!
