Pictures of Angelina Jolie playing the role of murdered journalist Daniel Pearl’s wife in A Mighty Heart have finally come out. You can certainly see why so many African-American groups blasted the casting of a caucasian actress in the role of Mariane Pearl who is half Cuban.
Angelina’s skin has been darkened for the role, giving the media a filed day with the word ‘blackface’.
What do you think- should Angelina Jolie play the role of Mariane Pearl in A Mighty Heart?

Well who else was going to play her? Aniston, yeah, she looks really half cuban. I don’t think it’s blackface if you use brown!

Uhhh, so what? Angelina is playing someone who is half-Cuban. Since when do African-americans care about us? Latinos don’t share the same views as many U.S. people (some may be brainwashed into being IGNORANT).
AS AN AFRO-CUBAN, I ACTUALLY EMBRACE THE FACT THAT SHE IS DOING THIS. GO, MAMITA!!!

Thank you, I agree with the one above me. She looks great doin in, and other bitches need to stop hatin on that woman. She also is the best person to do it because she actually cares about the whole story.

I am a big Angelina fan, however, i am pretty sure there were alot of very talented african, african carribean/latina, and latina women who tried out for that role. It’s fine now, but what happens when we start to go back to the dark ages when Aficans, Asians, Native Americans, and Latinos are being played by Caucasian actors; and all they have to do is paint their faces and tape their eyes. I don’t blame her, i blame the person who hired her. I am sure she will excel in the part and make Mariane proud, but I still find it inappropiate because being an African Belizean American I could never see her as woman of African or Hispanic culture. She has a nice tan though.

Actually no one else was probably given the chance to audition for the role since Brad Pitt bought the rights to the book and produced the movie.
